Now, the fifth and final book in the George Lucas–curated Star Wars Art series, Star Wars Art: Posters (out now via Abrams; $40.00; 978-1-4197-1400-9), collects the very best of this artwork. The book (a beautiful 10½ x 12½" hardcover with jacket; 180 pages; 120 four-color illustrations) covers a wide range of styles and tones—from photorealism to surrealism, contemplative to camp—for all six Star Wars theatrical releases, as well as the Droids and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television series, radio dramatizations, gallery exhibitions, fan-club exclusives, foreign one-sheets, video games, and limited-edition posters curated and commissioned by Mondo Tees in Texas. Reproducing for the first time, whenever possible, the artwork as art, sans type and logos, this collection also includes several previously unseen concept sketches for the original trilogy, uniting all of the action, artistry, and drama of a galaxy far, far away into one lavishly produced tome.
Author Drew Struzan’s art is some of the most iconic in modern movies, with more than 150 movie posters to his credit, including every Star Wars and Indiana Jones film.
