Local writer and Phoenixville resident Robb Cadigan is the author of PHOENIXVILLE RISING, a new novel set in Phoenixville's past and present.  Billed as a tale of rebirth and redemption in small-town America, PHOENIXVILLE RISING weaves a haunting tale of life during and after the boom of the steel-mill industry.

New York Times bestselling author William Lashner (THE BARKEEP) says, “PHOENIXVILLE RISING is a beautifully written love letter to the American industrial town.  In a novel spanning centuries, and centering on three hard-luck kids, Sketch and Tara and the unforgettable Boo -- clear-eyed and reckless and insanely-loyal Boo -- Robb Cadigan gives us a timeless story of the enduring legacies of love and friendship.  Noir and romantic and richly emotional, PHOENIXVILLE RISING is superb.”

Cadigan wrote much of the book in Chester County locations and conducted research in the archives of the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area.  For him, the novel’s setting is as much a part of the story as the characters themselves.  "Phoenixville and its surrounding area is rich in history and ripe with stories," Cadigan says. "In writing this novel, I immersed myself in the town and its past, giving the story a real sense of place, bringing out the true Phoenixville.”

The Phoenixville Library has invited Cadigan to be its keynote speaker at its annual “Wine, Wit & Wisdom” fundraiser in November at RiverCrest Golf Club and Preserve.  In addition, Cadigan will be conducting readings and book signings at the Phoenixville Library (October 17, 7pm) and the Henrietta Hankin Library (October 24, 7pm).  He is also scheduled to attend several meetings of book clubs that have chosen PHOENIXVILLE RISING for their reading lists.

PHOENIXVILLE RISING will be available as trade paperback and kindle ebook on amazon.com and at select local retailers.

Cadigan’s well-received short story “Baptism” is included in the anthology CHESTER COUNTY FICTION.  He lives and writes in Chester County.  For more information about him and to read his popular blog containing interviews with all sorts of creative people, please visit www.robbcadigan.com
