Steel Eagle (235 Bridge St - 484-927-4008) has come to be known for their buy/sell/trade antiques and collectibles business, but recently they've gotten into music... Vinyl in particular. This Saturday, April 20, the world will celebrate Record Store Day, a unique event in which music fans flock to their local record shops to support the independent art of music. Since Phoenixville does not have a typical brick and mortar music shop, Steel Eagle is the best alternative for picking up some classic wax on that day.
Record Store Day was officially founded in 2007 and is now celebrated globally with hundreds of recording and other artists participating in the day by making special appearances, performances, meet and greets with their fans, the holding of art exhibits, and the issuing of special vinyl and CD releases along with other promotional products to mark the occasion. There are several events happening in Philadelphia, including a screening of the official film of Record Store Day, Last Shop Standing, at the Trocadero on Wednesday April 17. Here in Phoenixville, there's a ton of classic and rare vinyl to be sifted through at Steel Eagle.
The shop is owned by Garrod Z. Taylor, a third generation antique collector and dealer. He was born in Los Gatos, California and has spent most his life growing up in Santa Cruz, California. As long as he can remember he has been helping his grandfather and father set up and sell at multiple antique shows around the country. His main focus has been on the west coast and is excited to now have expanded to the east coast. He hopes to bring a fresh new idea of antique shops with him and can't be more excited to also bring something new to the auction business to the local community of Phoenixville and the whole Philadelphia area.
Don't forget Steel Eagle on Record Store Day 2013, this Saturday, April 20th. Viva la vinyl!
