Sly Fox Brewery has been a valuable ally to the Schuylkill River Trail and the surrounding natural environment, and advocates of the river are taking notice.
The Patch reports:
The Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area will honor the brewery at their annual dinner, An Evening for the Schuylkill River, with their Schuylkill River Legacy Award.
A big part of Sly Fox's contribution has been through the SRT Ale, named after the trail which currently runs uninterrupted from south Philadelphia to near Limerick, and includes multiple stretches thereafter. Ultimately, organizers hope that the entire 130-mile stretch of the multi-use trail will be contiguous.
In addition to donating a portion SRT Ale proceeds to the trail, Sly Fox has also helped organize cleanups, parties, activities, and other events to promote the trail.
"The Sly Fox partnership bolsters our efforts to encourage recreation, build and improve the SRT and engage new audiences in our events," said Tim Fenchel, SRHA Interim Executive Director. "We are proud to recognize Sly Fox for their meaningful contribution."
Past winners of the Schuylkill River Legacy Award include Exelon Corporation management and DCNR Secretary Cindy Dunn.
Sly Fox said that their SRT ALE, a beer with a local alcohol level, is popular with trail users and athletes.
