Stable 12 Brewing Company initially opened its doors at 368 Bridge Street in Phoenixville in May, and is hosting its grand opening with all the bells and whistles this Saturday, July 18.
Owners Rick Wolf, brewmaster Tyler Fontaine and assistant brewmaster Chris Carbutt have a little more in store that just some pomp and circumstance by unveiling some new brews that will make your attendance all the more necessary.
For example, the brewery will be releasing a Double-IPA, an Imperial Stout and Munich Helles just for the occasion.
Here are some details on the new beers: The Imperial Stout weighs in with a hefty 11.9% ABV and 42.8 IBUs. Its abundance of oats and roasted malts combine to weave the brew with hints of chocolate and coffee.
The Double-IPA is real doozy, boasting a whopping 100 IBUs and 8.5% ABV. It features some malty flavors, but is aggressively hopped.
The Munich Helles is not your typical German-style lager with a 7.5% ABV. Owner Rick Wolf told me the beer was not what they were expecting when they first brewed it. The golden brew offers a smooth, malty flavor with a soft, dry finish. The hops provide the beer with spicy, floral, and herbal notes.
The gang will also re-release their sour mash, which was originally tapped for last week’s Blob Fest in Phoenixville. The brewery runs the beer through a Dogfish Head Randall with sour cherries.
On top of all of that, Stable 12’s newer releases, a Blonde Ale and Pale Ale, will be available as well as their flagship Irish Stout, Amber Ale and Wheat Beer. Since I haven’t written about the Blonde ale and Pale Ale, here are some details on them.
The Pale Ale (5% ABV, 46 IBUs) is brewed with crystal malts that provide the beer with its golden hue and a plethora of hops leave behind hints of gooseberry, passion fruit, citrus and floral notes.
The Blonde Ale (5% ABV, 19 IBUs) is light, crisp and refreshing and is made with pilsner malt. The brew also has a nice hop aroma finish.
Last, but certainly not least, the brewery’s IPA, which is their second generation, is being dubbed IPA 2.0. It’s 7.5% ABV and a little maltier than its predecessor, which was the first beer brewed using Stable 12’s 15-bbl system.
The grand opening festivities begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m followed by some words from the gang at Stable 12. Phoenixville Mayor Michael Speck will be in attendance as will Congressman Ryan Costello (R-6th Dist.), and Pa. State Representatives Warren Kampf (R-175th) and Tim Hennessey. (R-26th).
Following the ribbon-cutting there will be raffles for prizes like a growler, pint glasses and t-shirts. Oh, and it’s not your typical growler either. Check this bad boy out.
Finally, there will be some delicious barbeque from Uncle B’s Barbecue Shack.
