The Colonial Theatre will soon become the epicenter for a unique collection of presenters and an exciting exchange of ideas. TEDxPhoenixville, scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2013, will feature a variety of lively speakers, compelling performers and an interactive exchange with an engaged audience.
In its fourth year, the theme of this year's TEDxPhoenixville program is To Be Determined.
"The program theme is not going to be determined," offers Kirsten Van Vlandren, TEDxPhoenixville director and assistant director of the Colonial Theater where the event has been held since it started in 2010. "It is all about people and projects who were determined to persevere in the past, perform in the present or whose results are yet to be determined."
Speakers and performers at the TEDxPhoenixville event are passionate experts in specific fields of knowledge.
"We were the first TEDx event in the Philly region and the longest lasting," adds Van Vlandren.
Like other TEDx programs, TEDxPhoenixville operates under a license from TED as a independently organized regional event. TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. TEDxPhoenixville precedes their live event with monthly salons that educate people about their platform and facilitate opportunities for spontaneous, intelligent discussion among guests to point us toward a more engaged and purposeful future.
This year's TBD theme includes speakers, presenters and performers from multiple disciplines including science, music, business, education, visual art, literature, finance, technology, architecture and media. For the ticket price of just $40, attendees are invited to a pre-party on Friday October 4 at an amazing private art galley, the full day event on Saturday, October 5 that includes delicious lunch options and a lively after party where the event is celebrated and discussed. Students and seniors get all of that for only $18.
Besides some best of TEDTalks and a few unexpected surprises, the line up for the fourth annual TEDxPhoenixville includes:
