The 5th annual Make The World Better charity show is coming up in just a little over two months, September 5th at The Dell Music Center in Fairmont Park. R5 has been working alongside former Philadelphia Eagle and current Philadelphia resident, CONNOR BARWIN and his charity, MTWB. Over the past five years these charity shows along with direct contributions have raised over one million dollars to rebuild playgrounds and parks in some of Philadelphia's toughest neighborhoods. R5 says, "It's by far the most successful and positive event we have ever been a part of." 100% of the ticket sales go directly to improve the lives of Philadelphia youth.

The latest playground project is currently taking place at Waterloo Playground in West Kensington. MTWB recently finished phase one, which included Philadelphia's first two basketball court surface murals (via the wonderful Philadelphia Mural Arts). Phase two is slated to begin this summer and will include an upgraded pool, new play equipment, added nature-based play elements, a new handball wall, along with new lighting and gateways. This was all made possible by everyone who purchased a ticket to the last benefit show with The War On Drugs.
As for this benefit's lineup... FUTURE ISLANDS are coming back to Philly for their first time in two years. Along with hometown buds, HOP ALONG, who themselves are playing their first hometown show in a year and a half. There's even more Philly-ness with long time residents, STRAND OF OAKS, who are celebrating their latest record on Dead Oceans along with one of Philadelphia's newest residents, KARL BLAU, who just moved to Germantown a few months ago.
Tickets for this night start at just $20 and 100% of ticket sales go directly to improving these parks for Philly children. R5 encourages all guests to take advantage of Fairmont Park and what it has to offer. All ticket holders are permitted to "tailgate" in the parking lots before the show. There is FREE PARKING (along with dedicated Uber and Taxi pickup sites).
R5 will also have special VIP tickets on sale shortly. These include box seats to the show and an invitation to a private open bar with a crazy collaboration of two of Philadelphia's most noted chefs, MARC VETRI and JOE BEDDIA. Before the show starts, drink and eat up alongside a bunch of players from The Philadelphia Eagles who will be there to meet and greet you for supporting MTWB. At the last VIP party, the Mayor and District Attorney showed up. Details will be made available shortly about how you can attend the pre-show party (upgrades will be available).
