It's high time to revive Wing Watch. It's been nearly 2 years since we've done this column, so we're stoked to bring you a detailed assessment of the wing offerings at G's Philly Faves (413 Schuylkill Road, next to Rita'a Water Ice).

Let's start off by saying that G's has a crazy selection of flavors and features both a "wet" and "dry" set of options. On the "wet" side you have Buffalo Garlic (which is their best seller), Sweet and Sour, BBQ Gold Sweet and Tangy, Teriyaki, Salsa Mango Habanero, Honey BBQ, Thai Chille Sweet and Spicy, Buffalo Medium or Hot, Smokey BBQ, Belly Burner X-Hot, Garlic Parmesan, Sweet and Sassy, and Sriracha Chilli. From the "dry" options there's Pepper Habanero, Lemon Pepper, Carribean Jerk, Amazin' Cajun, Chesapeake Old Bay, 333 Southwestern Recipe, Ginger Teriyaki, and Adobo.

For this review, we ordered a set of Buffalo Garlic, Buffalo Medium, Garlic Parmesan, and Amazin' Cajun. That's 20 wings total, 5 of each flavor (yes, you can do that). Right of the bat, the Amazin' Cajun smelled incredible. I was sure they were going to be my favorite, but that designation belonged to the Garlic Parmesan.

I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to wings, so it actually surprised me that the Garlic Parmesan took the blue ribbon. They came with ample topping which consisted of a gloppy mixture of their namesake. However, the garlic wasn't too overpowering, and the glop added a nice texture to the wing. It was cement-like, but absolutely delicious.

I also enjoyed the Buffalo Garlic quite a bit. They were fairly crispy, which is a must, and had a nice balance between components. The Buffalo Medium were pretty standard. Definitely better than some other places in the area, but by no means were they the best. My only minor disappointment came with the Amazin' Cajun wings... They lacked a bit of butter, although I suppose that would defeat the purpose of a dry rubbed wing.

In any case, G's earns high marks for their selection of wings and attention to detail. I will not hesitate to go back once my craving for deep-fried-then-sauced chicken parts returns. Nice job!
